Cynthiana Rotarians & Lions help Kick Off 2009 Local Salvation Army Bell Ringer campaign.
Rotarians from the Cynthiana Rotary Club volunteered as Bell Ringers for the 2009 Harrison County Service Unit kick off event at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Friday, November 27, 2009. Club members Ralph Deitemeyer, Darwin Root (l) chaired theWal-Mart locations while Charlie Tribble and Doug Price helped out at the Food Entrance. Lee Kendall and and Rick Chasteen (r) provided support on behalf of the Cynthiana Lions Club. Thanks to their efforts the local Salvation Army unit raised almost $1200 towards supporting the personal and community needs of Harrison county residents.

Rotary Club to Honor Local Fire and Police
The Cynthiana Rotary Club has initiated a program to honor local firemen and policemen for their contributions to the community. An individual from each of the city and county departments will be recognized for their outstanding efforts at the Fabulous 4th Celebration. Plagues will be presented to a member selected by each of the local services. These include the Cynthiana Fire Department, the Harrison County Fire Department, the Cynthiana Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff's Office.
Cynthiana Rotary supports National Technical Honor Society
The Cynthiana Rotary Club is pleased to continue its support of the National Technical Honor Society at the Harrison County Technical Center. The program annually recognizes the top students at the technical center for their outstanding performance in academics, technical training, and attendance with a membership in the National Technical Honor Society. Besides recognition for their performance, each student is provided access to college and employment services through the honor society. A program in early May 2009 will be held to bestow the honors. The public is invited to attend.
Rotary Volunteers assist Health Fair

Volunteers from the Cynthiana Rotary Club manned the refreshment station sponsored by the Harrison County Service Unit of the Salvation Army at the Harrison County Health Fair. The event was held at the Harrison County Middle School on Thursday, April 2. Refreshments for health fair participants were provided by the Salvation Army. Seated (l-r) are Rotarians; Darwin Root, Dr. George Tanner, and Bill Kelly. Over 375 participants moved through the various health check stations.
Members of the local health care providers were out in force to provide testing for sight, hearing, blood, and many other health issues. While many of the participants were from the senior community, services were available for all ages from pre-natal to life's final stages.
Rotary Sponsored National Technical Honor Society Student Wins Scholarship

Cynthiana Rotarian and KY Tech - Harrison County ATC principal, John White (c) introduced National Technical Honor Society member, Shelby Davis to the club at the luncheon meeting on May 7. Ms. Davis is a student at Harrison County High School and the Harrison ATC. Shelby, along with thirteen other students were selected for membership in the National Technical Honor Society by their instructors for outstanding performance in their academic and technical courses, their involvement in community and student organization activities, and their commitment to maintaining a high level of attendance during their high school careers. The membership costs are underwritten by the Cynthiana Club and other donors to recognize outstanding vocational achievement. As a result of her membership, Shelby was selected as the recipient of the NTHS scholarship awarded in Kentucky for 2009. The NTHS awards over 50 scholarships to the NTHS membership each year. Rotary President, Dinesh Mistry expressed his pleasure with the award to Shelby and the commitment of the Cynthiana club sponsorship of the NTHS local chapter.
