Fabulous 4th Celebration Photo Gallery

The 2008 Harrison County Fabulous 4th Celebration kicked off at 5pm on Friday, July 4th.  The event is produced annually by the Cynthiana Rotary Club and financially supported by many local businesses and individuals.  The Harrison County Fiscal Court and City of Cynthiana provided the outstanding fireworks display.

Threatening weather dominated the scene as the crowd began to arrive and participate in the pre celebration games and activities on Friday, July 4.  By 6:30pm the first rain drops appeared, but the crowed persisted.  At about 7:30pm, however, a full fledged thunderstorm lashed out with lightning and torrential rain across the area.  As a result, the program was cancelled in favor of the posted rain date on Saturday, July 5.  Two galleries are presented - before the rain on July 4th and one for the great crowed that shared the fireworks, games, and family times on Saturday, July 5th.

Winners in the Corn Hole Toss Contest received bicycles donated through the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Cynthiana.  Wal-Mart provided four bicycles - two for each division of the contest.  Both divisions required sudden death playoffs to determine the winners.  The winners were:

                                        5-10 year old division

                                                    Girls        Anna Dahmer
                                                    Boys       Hunter Gaunce

                                        11-15 year old division
                                                    Girls        Brittany Hedger
                                                    Boys       Jordan Riley

A highlight of the program was several patriotic songs by Cynthiana's Karen Bear during the presentation of the flag and opening ceremonies.  The evening ended with a resounding fireworks display.

ATTENTION HCHS GRADUATES 1994 – 2008!!
The Harrison County Tomorrow Education Task Force is working to expand and enhance educational opportunities for youth and adults in our county. One of our focus issues is to support the preparation of graduating seniors for academic success in college and proficiency in the work place.  Your input regarding your own academic preparation for college and/or the workplace as a HCHS graduate will help our task force to identify the strengths and weaknesses of our current and past programs.  It should take only a few minutes to complete the survey. We greatly appreciate your time and input. Click here for survey.
